CENTRAL MONITORING STATION FAQ'S

Why should my system be monitored?

Without monitoring you are relying on a passerby or neighbor to notify the appropriate authorities when they hear your audible siren or see visible signs of an emergency. If these signs are not ignored, by the time they call the authorities it may be too late. This may take away from critical response time by police and fire departments which may risk your life, your business or your valuables in an emergency.

A system monitored by our UL Central Monitoring Station will send a signal to our operators the second the system is activated. Our highly trained operators will contact the appropriate authorities allowing you, your family or your employees to best handle the critical situation knowing the police or fire departments are on their way. Remember, your system is also being monitored whether you are home or not, so you can always be rest assured that someone is looking our for you 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

My police station is looking to adopt the non-response policy, why should I be monitored?

If you live in a city currently looking to adopt or has adopted the non-response policy, there are some important facts to know. The police and fire departments will respond to panic and fire alarms. They need visual verification to respond to a burglary alarm. Visual verification includes, passerby or neighbor verification or the verification of private response from a security company.

Post Alarm clients will see little effect if this policy is passed. We will dispatch the police and fire departments if we receive a panic or fire alarm, plus we are one of the few companies in Southern California that currently runs a patrol division providing armed response. If you should have a burglar alarm activation, our central monitoring station will dispatch our armed patrol officer to respond to your alarm.

The officer will physically inspect the premise and dispatch the police if necessary. This service is offered to our clients at a minimal fee. It is important to continue the monitoring of your security system as the police and fire departments will still respond to panic or fire alarms.

What should I be aware of if I am interviewing other companies?

If you are reviewing other companies before making your decision, there are some important questions to ask. It is important to find out who is doing their monitoring and where the monitoring station is located. Many companies use third party sub-contracted monitoring facilities that also monitor hundreds of thousands of accounts for other security companies around the country.

This may lead to poor customer service due to their limited knowledge of your particular security system, emergencies that may be occurring in your area, and a breakdown in communication to the company servicing your system if your system should have a problem. We at Post Alarm Systems believe it is important to have one company install, monitor and service your system.

That way the company knows your security system history, knows the area, has a relationship with local authorities and can provide a greater level of personalized customer service.
